Local Schools and Whole Communities Planning and Taking Action

HCCA provides support upon request to community groups that want to work to prevent and reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in their community.  Following is a list of school and community groups that have analyzed the problem in their communities, identified specific actions that will make a difference, and are currently implementing those actions.

The Maranacook Substance Abuse Prevention Group

In the Spring of 2009 this group created and submitted to the local school board a comprehensive plan for reducing substance use among youth across the five communities it serves.  Click here to review the most recent report of this group's accomplishments.  Ongoing projects include (but are not limited to):  Maranacook's Youth Opinion Leader Project, periodic Medicaton Drop-Off events; implementation of the LifeSkills curriculum to middle school students.
