MaryFrances Bartlett MaryFrances Bartlett, Director of the Bureau of Health and Welfare for
the City of Augusta, serves as both the Local Health Officer and
is a member of the city's Emergency Preparedness and Response
Team. The Bureau of Health and Welfare administers the General Assistance
Program, often called the "safety net", for those in our
community who find themselves without the ability to provide basic
necessities for their households. Mary Frances serves
as an executive board member of the Maine Welfare Directors Association
and of Crisis and Counseling Services, Inc.; on the Advisory
Board of the combined A.H.A, and M.H.A. Family Self-Sufficiency
Programs, K.V.C.A.P. Families In Transition Program, Southern Kennebec
Domestic Abuse Council Legal Issues Task Force and the Augusta Social
Services Advisory Group. In addition, MaryFrances serves on the
Augusta Homeless Action Team, and several Maine State Housing Authority
groups focused on preventing and eliminating homelessness.
Rebecca West Dick, Board Chair
Becky Dick is the Executive Director of Healthy Futures
which serves the eight towns of Vienna, Fayette, Wayne, Mt. Vernon,
Readfield, Winthrop, Manchester, and Monmouth. She also provides
Occupational Services to children ages 0-5. She is a Certified Occupational
Therapy Assistant, with a BS in general studies, a Masters in Education.,
and a Ph.D. in Health Administration, she has very broad background
in healthcare, education and administration. She lives in Winthrop.
Dick Dyer, Dyer Associates in Winthrop, Maine
Since 1981, Dick Dyer, APR, has been practicing public relations from his offices in Winthrop, Maine. His work has included the Maine Departments of Conservation, Human Services and the Maine Arts Commission and over the past 20 years he has consulted on behavioral public relations for many corporate, non-profit and not for profit organizations nationally. He and his wife Mary have two children and three grand children.
Cindy Flye
Cindy Flye is the coordinator of services at the Maranacook
school-based student health center serving students in grades 6-12
in the towns of Manchester, Mt. Vernon, Readfield, Wayne and Fayette.
She serves on the CSD #10 Wellness Council, the Maranacook Community
High School Crisis Team, and is the staff person for the student
health center community advisory committee. She is also on the board
of the Maine Assembly on School-based Health Care and is a member
of the National Assembly on School-based Health Care. Cindy
has over 25 years experience in school health education and health
services.
Robert Gordon
Robert Gordon is the Executive Director of the Kennebec
Valley United Way, which raises and allocates funds to 52 local
human service programs. The United Way also emphasizes volunteerism
through sponsorship of the annual community 'Days of Caring' with
the high school students of Gardiner, Augusta, and Winthrop. The
'First Call 211 telephone information and referral program is co-sponsored
with the United Ways across the state. Rob is a member of the Board
of Human Endeavors which sponsors "Capital Kids/Boys &
Girls Club for Teens" in Augusta, and is currently chairing
the Augusta Social Services Advisory Group
Chuck Hays, Treasurer
Chuck Hays is the President and CEO of MaineGeneral
Medical Center located in Augusta and Waterville. He is also the
chair of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, and is on the
boards at Granite Hill estates, Maine Dartmouth Family Residency
Program, NORDx Lab, Kiwanis, and Kennebec Savings Bank. As part
of MGMC, Chuck has been involved in supporting programs for community
health and wellness throughout the Kennebec valley.
Kala Ladenheim, PhD, MaineHealthPolicy.Info in Gardiner, Maine
Kala Ladenheim does health policy and public health research as Maine Health Policy dot Info and works part time at Medical Care Development, Inc. in Augusta. After considering a medical research career in college, she decided we already had the science to be healthy, but what we didn't know was how to make sure everyone got a fair share of what they needed for health. She switched to working on policy--how decisions are made, in communities and governments, about how things are done and who gets what.
When not being a health policy wonk Kala gardens avidly, hunts mushrooms, and makes jewelry that she sells as part of the Gardiner Artwalk. She lives in Gardiner with her husband Robert Saunders.
Bill McKenna
Bill McKenna, Paramedic, is the Director of Community
Relations for Delta Ambulance and has a background in holistic health.
He is the past President of the Maine Paramedic Association and
the Rotary Club of Augusta. He is on the Board of Big Brothers Big
Sisters, and a member of a number of community committees including
the Kennebec County Triad, Kennebec County Local Emergency Planning,
and Kennebec County Emergency Response. He resides in Augusta.
William McPeck, Vice Chair
Bill McPeck has been a member of SKHC since 1997. He is the Director
of Employee Health and Safety for Maine State Government where he
uses the resources and alliances formed within the SKHC network
to enrich his employee wellness efforts. Bill is a founding member
of the Mid-Maine Worksite Wellness Council and serves as a member
of the MaineGeneral Medical Center Community Health Board, the Maine
Cardiovascular Health Program Worksite Component Advisory Board
and the Advisory Committee of the Kennebec Valley Diabetes Care
Initiative. Bill resides in St. Albans where he is Vice-Chair and
Secretary of the St. Albans Planning Board and Vice-Chair of the
St. Albans Senior Citizen Housing Corporation Board.
Kathleen R. Wall, R.N., B.S
Kathleen R. Wall, R.N., B.S., Executive Director, Capital Kids/Augusta
Boys and Girls Club for Teens. Kathi is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive
Nurse Fellow and a three year Americorp/VISTA volunteer. One of
the founders of the Augusta BGClub for Teens, Kathi has expanded
services to include mental health services and a health focus through
the arts and computers. Her professional experience includes initiating
renal transplant and immunology programs, oncology nursing, child
abuse/domestic violence nursing, counseling, and teaching science.
She has a special interest in health as related to environments
and cooking well. She has two adult children and is a grandmother
x2. Kathi lives on an organic farm in Belgrade with her husband,
Alex, a former surgeon who currently teaches Anatomy and Physiology
at Kents Hill School in Readfield.
Jim Wood, Secretary Jim Wood is the Transportation Director for the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program. KVCAP provides public bus services and community social service transportation for Kennebec and Somerset Counties. He has worked in the community transportation field for over 30 years. He has served as President of the Maine Transit Association (1999-2001) and has worked with a variety of committees including the Augusta Community and Social Services Advisory Committee, Region 4 RTAC Committee, Neighborhood Rideshare Development Committee, Governor's Senior Mobility Task Force.
Mark Yerrick Mark Yerrick is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kennebec Valley YMCA where he assumed his position in June, 2008. His passion has been to coach youth sports in the area for the past 20 years and he continues to be involved with the Augusta Babe Ruth League and serves as its Treasurer. Mark's professional experience includes over 20 years experience in the Healthcare equipment and facilities maintenance field. He holds certifications as A Biomedical Equipment Technician, Plant Maintenance Manager and Healthcare Facilities Manager. He resides in Manchester with his wife Suzie and has two children, Thomas and Ashley and two step daughters, Nicole and Julie Nadeau.
